A hearing to consider a final contract for the proposed Carson Hilton hotel has been continued to Aug. 5.
The matter was continued this week to allow city staff and the Hilton developer, the Feinberg Group, more time to work out contract details relating to construction and payment schedules for the $25-million project, which has suffered numerous delays and financial uncertainty during the last two years.
As the tentative agreement is written, the city would rebate to the developer up to $1.85 million in tax revenue over seven years. The developer would buy the city-owned hotel site for about $5 million.
Officials have said the long-sought hotel will be an image-enhancing city centerpiece that will spur other high-quality development.
