KANSAS CITY — A jail escapee who had held six law enforcement officers hostage was wounded by police early Friday.
Robert T. Allen, 25, was wounded when about a dozen officers who had surrounded a mobile home in rural western Missouri fired 75 to 100 shots as the last hostage dashed for freedom about 2 a.m. Friday. Allen was in poor condition at Truman Medical Center, authorities said.
Allen was charged with robbery and other crimes when he escaped from unarmed Jackson County Jail guards June 19.
