Santa Ana : Machine Believed Cause of Lumber Company Fire

A malfunctioning laminating machine is believed to have been the cause of a $1-million blaze that destroyed a Santa Ana lumber company Tuesday.
Eleven fire companies fought flames at Pacific Coast Plywood Inc., 3402 W. Harvard St., for 38 minutes after the alarm was sounded at 6:17 a.m.
“The building was well-involved when they arrived, with flames through the roof,” said Capt. Anthony Espinosa.
The laminating machine caught fire near the center of the building. The high damage estimate, he said, reflects the destruction of “a lot of very expensive machinery in there.”
