Reputed Taiwan gang leader Chen Chi-li has admitted plotting with top Taiwanese intelligence officials the murder of 52-year-old Chinese-American journalist Henry Liu in the garage of his home south of San Francisco, the San Francisco Examiner reported. Liu, 52, a naturalized American citizen, wrote stories critical of the Taiwan regime. In a copyright story, the Examiner said Chen, 39, who has been named in a San Mateo County murder warrant in the Oct. 15 shooting, “admitted to investigators last month that he repeatedly discussed the plot with Vice Adm. Wang Hsi-ling, head of the Taiwanese Defense Ministry’s intelligence bureau.” The government is seeking Chen’s return to the United States for prosecution. Chen was one of three Chinese nationals who fled to Taiwan shortly after the killing in Daly City, just south of San Francisco.
