USC Women Beat UC Irvine; UCLA Men Win in Tennis

The second-ranked USC women’s tennis team beat UC Irvine, 7-2, Friday at USC.
Kim Giordinella was the only singles winner for Irvine, defeating Kathryn Reed, 6-3, 6-0. The Anteaters No. 3 doubles team of Stephanie Rhorer and Libby Despot beat Caroline Kuhlman and Diane Brodie, 6-2, 6-3.
UCI (7-7) plays host to Fresno State at 9:30 a.m. today.
In men’s tennis action:
Fourth-ranked UCLA defeated Chapman College, ranked second in Division 2 play, 7-2, at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. At No. 2 singles, Terry Davis defeated Mark Basham, 7-6, 6-4; and at No. 5 singles, John Kline beat David Lingston, 6-4, 6-1, for Chapman’s victories.
Chapman plays host to Nevada Las Vegas at the Anaheim Tennis Center.
