Art College Has New Name:The Laguna Beach School of Art has changed its name to the Laguna Beach College of Art. Marsha Turner, administrative assistant, said the old name did not reflect the accredited status of the private, nonprofit art institute, which was founded in 1962. “We were seen as a prep school or a secondary school, rather than post-secondary,” she said. School officials are making plans to expand the 2.8-acre facility to four acres. Turner said four more studios will be added, for a total of 11.
