AirCal Inc., the Newport Beach-based airline, said Monday that January was another record-breaking month for passen ger traffic. The airline posted 125 million revenue passenger miles for January, up 22% from 102 million posted the same month the year before. Passenger boardings for January were up 16.9% from the same month in 1984, to 320,540 passengers, from 274,111 passenger boardings reported in January, 1984.
In each month of 1984, the airline set passenger traffic records.
William Lyon, president and chief executive officer, said he was pleased with the January results. He said the increase is “particularly meaningful coming in what is traditionally a slow month in the airline industry.”
