Glendale 64, Citrus 59
Glendale College’s free throws helped beat Citrus College, 64-59, in an Inland Valley Conference game. The Vaqueros have won 13 of their last 15 and are one game ahead of second-place Riverside College in the conference.
After leading, 24-22 at the half, Glendale was under pressure during the second half to keep its advantage. The lead changed six times in the last 15 minutes of the game, with neither team able to take command.
Finally, with four minutes left, Glendale went ahead by eight points, thanks to the shooting of Matt MacFarlane, who scored eight of the Vaqueros’ last 16 points. MacFarlane, a 6-4 freshman, ended the night with a career-high 19 points, hitting 7 of 10 from the floor and 5 of 7 from the free-throw line. He also had six rebounds and a pair of steals.
Citrus’ Adrian Adams led his team’s scoring with a game-high 27 points.
