John M. Stafford, president of Pillsbury Co., will assume the additional post of chief executive on May 8, the Minneapolis-based food concern said. Stafford, 48, will succeed William H. Spoor, 62, who remains chairman.
Stafford’s appointment is “another step in an orderly management transition,” Spoor said.
