N.C. Man Arrested in Murder-Rape of 8-Year-Old Orpahn

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — George Richard Fisher, 36, of Hillsborough was arrested Sunday and charged with first-degree murder, kidnaping and rape in the death of an 8-year-old Chinese orphan girl found hanging from a tree limb, authorities said.
The body of Jean Har-Kar Fewel was found Wednesday beside a tree near the University of North Carolina, four miles from her home. Investigators said a plastic-coated rope was tied around her neck, with the other end tied to a tree limb.
The girl was believed to have been abducted on her way to school and then taken to a wooded area near the university. An orphan from Hong Kong, she had been in the United States for a year and was being adopted by a local couple.
