Sen. East Has Operation Described as Successful

WASHINGTON — Sen. John P. East (R-N.C.) underwent surgery to remove a benign obstruction from his urinary tract, his office announced.
“Everything went well,” press secretary Jerry Woodruff said after the operation Friday.
