A year ago, Darien Johnson was a starting cornerback at La Puente Bishop Amat overshadowed by the other cornerback starter, Sheldon Price, a UCLA commit. Price is now starting as a freshman at UCLA, and Johnson has taken over as a big-play weapon for the unbeaten Lancers.
He has returned two kickoffs for touchdowns, returned a punt for a touchdown, returned an interception for a touchdown and also caught touchdown passes.
All Ventura St. Bonaventure Coach Todd Therrien has to say about Johnson is this: ‘He’s unbelievable.’
Johnson is a 5-foot-10, 175-pound senior with lots of speed. If the college recruiters don’t like his size, they certainly have to like the impact he has on a game.
