The year-to-date number of homicides in Los Angeles County is about 602. This number does not include a few cases in which the cause of death has been deferred.
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has confirmed the following recent deaths as homicides:
Tommy Jackson, a 58-year-old black man, on Thursday, Oct. 15. Jackson was stabbed in the 800 block of East 7th Street in downtown.
David Mikes, a 28-year-old black man, on Thursday, Oct. 15. Mikes was shot in the 100 block of West 64th Place in Inglewood.
Michelle Velazquez, a 26-year-old Latina, on Friday, Oct. 16. Velazquez was shot in the 2400 block of Grand Avenue in Walnut Park.
Cesar Lopez, a 19-year-old Latino, on Friday, Oct. 16. Lopez was shot in the 13400 block of Pioneer Boulevard in Norwalk.
Genny Herrera, a 39-year-old Latina, on Friday, Oct. 16, Herrera was shot in the 4500 block of Lasheart Drive in La Canada Flintridge.
Teresa Cardoza, a 28-year-old Latina, on Saturday, Oct. 17. Cardoza was strangled in the 2400 block of South Myrtle Avenue in Unincorporated Los Angeles.
John Fulchiero, a 50-year-old white man, on Saturday, Oct. 17. Fulchiero was shot by Los Angeles police officers in the 3100 block of Midvale Avenue in Palms.
Christian Dixon, a 5-year-old black child, on Saturday, Oct. 17. Dixon was shot in the 7200 block of South Gramercy Place in Manchester Square.
Toni Zazueta, a 29-year-old Latina, on Saturday, Oct. 17. Zazueta was shot in the 11500 block of Tina Street in Norwalk.
Steven Valadez, a 19-year-old Latino, on Sunday, Oct. 18. Valadez was stabbed in the 16200 block of Maplegrove Street in Valinda.
Patrick Shillings, a 21-year-old black man, on Sunday, Oct. 18. No other information was provided by the coroner. [Updated on Oct. 23: Shillings was shot several times at Lassen Street and White Oak Avenue in Northridge, according to coroner’s investigators.]
