Snowboarder Kevin Pearce, who is in intensive care at a hospital in Salt Lake City, was upgraded from critical to serious condition this afternoon, and his doctor called it a ‘very big step’ in his recovery process.
“Kevin is in serious condition and remains in intensive care at University of Utah Hospital,’ said one of his doctors, Holly Ledyard, in a statement. ‘We’ve been able to remove his breathing tube, and he is slowly regaining consciousness and able to follow commands.
‘While we’re pleased that he’s improving faster than anticipated, he still
has a long recovery ahead of him.”
The update was released on Wednesday on a Facebook page, which has issued reports on his progress since he was injured last month while training in Park City, Utah.
