The Yankees’ 2-1 win against the Dodgers on Friday was right on pace with the rest of their season.
New York’s roster includes a lot of power, but defense seems to be the key to Yankees victories.
The Yankees are 40-5 this season when they keep an opponent to four or fewer runs, and 37-2 when allowing three or fewer runs.
Saturday, New York took an early lead with a three-run first inning. Then the scoring slowed and Yankees pitcher A.J. Burnett struggled.
Through five innings, the Yankees trail, 7-4. Burnett was pulled in the fourth, having walked six, given up six hits and allowed six runs, all earned.
That suggests it might not be their night.
